Area and population

Binh Dinh has a natural area of 6,050 km2, a population of 1,489,700 people, and a population density of 246.2 persons / km2 (2010 figures). Binh Dinh has 11 administrative units: Quy Nhon city is the capital city, the first class city and 10 districts including An Lao, Vinh Thanh, Van Canh (mountainous), Tay Son, Hoai An (midland), Hoai Nhon , Phu My, Phu Cat, An Nhon, Tuy Phuoc (plain). There are 159 communes, wards and towns in the province (129 communes, 14 towns, 16 wards).

Natural resources

Binh Dinh has a tropical monsoon climate suitable for growing tropical plants. The annual average temperature is 26-28 degrees Celsius. The annual average rainfall is 1300 - 2700 mm. There are big rivers such as Kon, Lai Giang, La Tinh, Ha Thanh and rivers and streams which are favorable for irrigation, hydropower and water supply. There are 11 soil groups with 30 different soil types, in which alluvial soil occupies 71,000 ha. There are nearly 136,350 ha of agricultural land, 249,310 ha of forested land, 62,870 ha of non-agricultural land, more than 150,000 ha of unused land that can be exploited for agricultural and forestry development and other uses (2009 figures). . Binh Dinh has 134 km long coastline, 3 large creek Quy Nhon, De Gi, Tam Quan, Thi Nai lagoon and other lagoons, many kinds of marine products favorable for the development of fishing and aquaculture. . Binh Dinh is not rich in mineral resources but some valuable minerals such as construction stones, titanium ore, mineral springs, rope and white sand.
